…it all began in 1992

Based on the results of surveys among teachers and upon her own experience, Heidi Degro designed and sewed the first puppet. Heidi and her partner Ludwig Bodrik presented it in kindergardens and to their friends. The instant response was phantastic.. They sold many, many puppets and in these times costumers even waited over three months to get their puppet. The name"KUMQUATS" was coined for the skin of the first puppets had the colour of these little sweet fruits. In very short time they designed more characters as a pastor, a grandfather, a clown and many more. Today there are about 30 different KUMQUATS-Puppets. The number of KUMQUATS-Fans went extremly up and still increases every day.

But what creats this effect?

For Heidi and Ludwig it was very important to make the KUMQUATS very human. They searched for the best materials to achieve optimum performance in appearance and play. Therefor materials even were developped and are produced especially for the Kumquats. Every detail gives the puppets their unique appearance. In many families, the KUMQUATS are a part of the family, eating, sleeping and playing together. With the expressive flexible face, the moveable tongue, arms and hands the KUMQUATS are made alive easily and make a supreme medium to relay comunications and emotions. The KUMQUATS are funny and smart and make people say things they didn´t dare to say before. Therefore the KUMQUATS make more and more friends.
